How to Channel and Understand Psychic Information

When you open yourself to the divine and request guidance, don't be surprised if humor, irreverent, symbolic or cryptic answers are the results.

Whether you’re a psychic giving readings, or using psychic tools for your own guidance, there comes a time when you receive Divine answers you simply don’t understand.

Most often, people will receive clairvoyantly, seeing images in the mind’s eye including inner movies and scenes. Others receive messages through clairaudience, channeling words in the mind’s ear.

Channeled writing is the term used to describe being a “scribe” to the divine—taking down the words you hear in your mind's ear, in writing.

Interacting With the Divine Through Channeling

The key to channeling, in any of these styles, is to move aside momentarily, thereby allowing the divine to literally use you as a “channel” for communication.

Some experienced channelers, such as Esther Hicks, author of the best-selling Law of Attraction and other teachings, channels through her own voice; she allows her own personality to move aside, so that the entity Abraham can use her speech as a vehicle for communication.

Others who are experienced in channeling, especially those with strong writing abilities, receive most easily via channeled writing.

Clairvoyance Can Be Symbolic

Regardless of which way you receive, the question is always: what to do with the information you get.

For example, let’s say you clairvoyantly receive the image of an eggplant. What can this possibly mean?

In clairvoyance, many messages are symbolic, similar to the way Karl Jung suggested we interpret dreams: an eggplant may be about the color purple, it may be that you need to eat more vegetables, or it may be that you are living a dull vegetable-like life and need stimulation, and so on.

On the other hand, clairvoyant receiving can also be crystal clear: you may receive an actual “movie in your head” as many do, that leaves no room for misinterpretation.

Clairaudience Can Be Literal

If you receive clairaudiently – in words – the messages may be extremely direct: “get a new job” or “stop dating this man” or "your health is in danger" might be examples of clear, unmistakable guidance.

However, please know that if you are receiving from spirit guides, these guides may have a sense of humor! In The 33 Lessons, received by this author as channeled writing similar to Neale Donald Walsch’s Conversations with God or Course in Miracles, the messages were crystal clear: a spiritual primer for the coming age.

All Roads Led to the Divine

And yet, in channeled writing for personal guidance, the answers can be cryptic. For example, in one recent receiving by this author, the answer to “what is the next step” was a short message: “All roads lead to Damascus.”

Research shows that this biblical reference refers to the four chief roads that threaded through the Holy Land, all leading to Damascus. Moreover, it was on the road to Damascus that Saul saw and heard God, and during this intensive, blinding spiritual awakening, re-emerged as a new man: St. Paul.

Now, in terms of answering the question, “What is the next step?” this doesn’t at first seem like a particularly useful advice.

Or is it? Spirit, source, God, the Universe, whatever name you choose to give the Ineffable One — has its own reasons, and much is revealed in time.

For now, it is good to know that “all roads”, even the ones that seem muddling, off path, confused or circular, will eventually lead us to nowhere except the divine.
