Rather than focus on ritual, this article focuses more on examining the core of your relationship with the goddess.
To invite the goddess into your life you don’t necessarily have to go through an elaborate or intricate ritual. In fact, there isn’t really any separation between what is ritual and what is not, for each moment of our lives is sacred. So, you may be wondering, how does one invite the goddess into their daily life? Well, first of all, we need to look a little bit into the history of the goddess or what is also referred to as feminine spirituality.
Looking back through the histories of world religions we can find many examples of feminine spirituality. For instance:
These ancient beliefs all had one thread that tied them together, and that was the people’s strong connection with the sacred in every moment of their lives. This connection had much to do with the awareness of the natural world and the interdependence of nature/body/spirit.
In the high-tech, material-based world that we live in, it can be very easy to feel disconnected, empty and dissatisfied. Responsibilities, ambitions and worries can push us even further away from our spirit and leave us seeking answers which often are so complicated that paradoxically we end up feeling even more disconnected. Which brings us back to the invitation of the goddess. By inviting this divine feminine energy into our lives, no matter how we happen to see her or by what name we call her, we are reconnecting with ourselves. Inviting the goddess is about looking for the answers within us, rather than around us and acknowledging that even the most mundane moments in life are opportunities for a greater connection to her energy.
Inviting the goddess is also about accepting yourself, warts and all. It’s about coming to terms with past hurts and opening up to opportunities of healing. It’s about being able to love ourselves and have compassion for ourselves so that we can in turn feel this love and compassion for others. A person can invite the goddess in such wonderful ways as music, art and dancing. They can invite her through meditation, prayer gatherings or solitary rituals. But unless these are done with self-awareness, self-acceptance and a dash of humility then her energy that resides within our spirits will be weakened. Think of the goddess as candle flame within you; its light can be smothered by too much strife and negativity or burn brightly with nurturing, love and healing. Learn to know yourself, know your strengths and weaknesses, know the beauty that resides within you and you will learn to know the goddess, in all her truthful splendor.
Each one of us, whether woman or man, is a unique embodiment of the goddess; she lives within us and is ready to fill our lives with love, joy, compassion and creativity. She is ready to be invited.
