Whether you're looking for more Love in your life or simply seeking to maintain it, a Love altar can be an effective way to draw in that energy consistently.

Love.

Poets rhapsodize it, musicians croon over it and the world would be lost without it. Who doesn't want more Love in their life? Creating an altar dedicated to Love can be an extremely effective tool for drawing more Love into your life and providing flow to release more Love from you (in order to draw more in).

Location

One important decision is where to put the altar. Purists will argue over the semantics - for the purposes of this article the most important place to put it is where you inherently feel it should go. Close your eyes, clear your thoughts and allow your intuition to guide you. It will be the perfect place.

If you care to indulge in something more sophisticated, you could place it facing north, or even use Feng Shui techniques to determine something appropriate. Again, let your intuition be your own guide.

Materials

Love means different things to each of us, so the crucial consideration is: What does it mean to you? What makes you feel Love, desire Love - what represents Love? The smell of Jasmine? The color Pink? Hearts and flowers? Pieces of Rose Quartz scattered over a green silk scare?

The important consideration is to use items that place you in the state of consciousness of Love. Old Love letters, ribbons, tickets to a movie - anything that makes you warm and restless from within are good items to consider using for your altar. The key here is to draw and release the energy of Love in the wavelength that is you. Some ideas:

Cleansing the Altar

Once you've decided upon your space and chose your materials, it's time to get the altar set up. Cleansing the area for intent is a bit like cleaning the house before guests come over. You want to put your best face on. It's polite. Things feel better. Not cleansing your space is a bit like sitting down to eat on a dirty table - you can do it, but it detracts a bit from the wonderful thing it should be. Physically, this means vacuuming the space well, dusting and thoroughly cleaning the table/trunk/shelf off. Preparing.

Etherically cleansing the area after you've physically prepared things is the same idea, only applicable to the spiritual realm (where intent and desire is corporeally manifested). This should not be at all complicated, and is about as easy as wiping off a table. No detailed ritual or belief system is required (unless you'd like it to be). Incense or smudge sticks are effective tools but it is the power of the will in the etheric that generates the action itself. A good method is to simply close your eyes and imagine the room as filling up with pure, crystal water, cleaning out any etheric or astral gunk in the process. If you do use incense or smudge, hold the image in your mind of willfully cleansing the area itself.

Dedication

A consecration ritual to release your desire and will is an optional element a bit like prayer before a meal - it gives thanks, it asks for blessing. It serves to consciously bind your intent to the action. Which ritual you choose should be based upon what serves you best. Elements of the ritual may include:

Maintenance

One doesn't build a sacred thing such as an altar to simply let it sit idly by - it's akin to a living thing, a spiritual representation of what you're seeking. You tend to it. This means keeping it clean, burning a candle to keep the fires alive. There are many varied approaches, but let your own intuition guide you. Perhaps a journal chronicling Love on a daily basis could be kept here and some time spent in meditative thought each day writing down lessons, gifts, Love interests. Flowers, feathers, shells and other gifts of Nature are equally nice touches. The important thing is to care for it, treat it as sacred as the thing which you are seeking to draw and manifestation will be certain to appear.
