The Law Of Attraction

Universal Truth or Wishful Thinking?

With the success of movies like 'The Secret', concepts like 'The Law of Attraction' have become cache. Can you really manifest at will with nothing more than mere Desire?

Concepts like 'The Secret' are appealing to us for two reasons: One, because it resonates at a level we perceive as truth based on the Collective Consciousness in which we all universally participate. Critics reason that people buy into this sort of thing because they want it to be true. The obvious corollary to this is Madison Avenue advertising and the basic principles of marketing. That's generally true for everything that people buy or buy into, isn't it?

Which leads us to Axiom Number One.:

When dealing then with the principles of Desire and Manifestation (and/or the lack thereof), what fails? If desires created things, we'd all have what we wanted, wouldn't we?

The truth is that we all have exactly what we wanted - at some point. We may no longer want it, or it may have visited us in a seemingly unrelated form. What keeps us from getting what we think we want is a little trickier.

Conflicting Wills

This is the 'I want to be thin/I want to eat Cookies' scenario. Thin people can certainly eat cookies. And heavier people may never eat them at all. But when you are dealing with two opposing desires at once, it takes a tremendous amount of willpower and/or concentration to keep consistently focused on which of the two is the more desired.

The key word here is consistency. Which leads to Axiom Number Two:

In order to manifest results based on the Law of Attraction, there must be a clear desire with no competing conflict. In order for there to be no conflict, you must understand and thoroughly exercise the power of your will.

Knowing What You Want

Knowing what you want is not the same thing as knowing what you don't want. Focusing on what you don't want is as likely to bring that to your door simply because you are investing a framework of energy into a principle that is only designed to manifest what you are visualizing. This is why the power of positive thinking is so effective - the more you focus on the things that are good, the more you draw things that are good unto you. And the more you draw those things, the more things seem good and so on. Some tools to assist you in developing a stronger sense of desire include:

• Meditate - spend time in meditation if only to quiet the noise of the mind.

• Reflect - on those things which you desire most. Never on what you don't want, only that which you do.

• Journal - keeping track of daily emotions, moods and results are instrumental in providing ongoing documentation with where potentially conflicting desires exist.

• Affirm - Affirmations are nothing more than consciously telling yourself how things are. You already do that anyway, albeit in a less evolved, more subconscious form.

The Real Secret

Axiom Number Three:

Whatever that is. If you've journaled and reflected and meditated, by now you should know exactly what you want without conflict. If you already absolutely know, then you are a step ahead of the game. And consistent focus on your desire as well as purposeful action nearly always begets result.
