A Meditative Journey through the Seven Chakras using Sound and Colour

Chakra means "wheel" in Sanskrit. In the Hindu form of energy medicine, the seven major chakras are found on the central channel of energy in the body and relate to every level of our being.

Sit or lie comfortably with the spine straight and take some deep breaths. Arrive with yourself, noticing whatever feelings, thoughts and sensations arise. Set an intention for your journey through the chakras - you can place your hand on each centre if you wish.

Muladhara - Root Chakra - Physicality

Imagine a deep vibrant red colour warming the base of your spine. Imagine that you have roots connecting down through your legs and feet into the core of the earth. Access the primal power of nature which is within every one of your cells and feel warmth traveling up into the root chakra. Extend your love and gratitude towards the earth and your body as your receive this warmth. Use the sound UH to energise your earth connection.

Swadisthana - Sacral Chakra - Emotions

Feel a warm orange glow growing in the centre of your lower abdomen. Breathe and feel relaxation spreading through your digestive and reproductive organs. You can imagine this chakra as a deep cave - journey into it to encounter the source of your primal sexual and creative energy. You can use the sound OOH to release your feelings.

Manipura - Solar Plexus Chakra - Power

Imagine that a golden ball of sunlight is filling the centre above your belly button, relaxing your stomach and upper digestion. Feel yourself being strengthened and empowered as you let go of fear and energise your true potential. Use the sound "Ohm" to access your infinite self.

Anahata - Heart Chakra - Love

Visualise a ball of light (green or pink) opening in the centre of your chest. Feel your lungs open and breathe in love for yourself and breathe out love for the universe. Feel love flowing down your arms and hands, energising your ability to touch and heal. Stay in the temple of your heart and see who comes to you there, allowing your relationships to heal. Use the sound "Ah" to open your heart.

Vishuddha - Throat Chakra - Self-Expression

Imagine a blue light energising your throat. Imagine a doorway opening in the centre of your throat that allows any unexpressed thoughts, dreams or creative expression to be liberated. Allow yourself to speak or sing your truth, using the sound "Eh."

Ajna - Third Eye Chakra - Vision

Use a purple light to open this centre in between your eyes. Feel any negative thought forms being gently released as you awaken your intuitive abilities, allowing dreams, inspirations and insights to emerge. Use the sound "Ee" to bring mental clarity.

Sahasrara - Crown Chakra - Spirit

Feel a bright white light opening the crown of the head. Travel up into the sky, the stars, the planets and the centre of the sun. Journey beyond into the Infinite light of creation of which you are a part. Feel a cascade of white light fill your whole aura, connecting you to your highest self, your ancestors and your angels. Know that you are completely surrounded by love and listen for any guidance that comes to you. Gently sounding III, connect to infinity or simply rest in the silence.

When you have completed this sequence reaffirm your connection to the earth and your body, take a deep breath, stretch and open your eyes. Write your experience down to complete and process your experience
