Holiday Ideas for New Agers
Gifts to Give to the Metaphysically Inclined
© Lisbeth Cheever-Gessaman
I am told I'm one hard person to buy for come the holidays. And although I tend to think of myself as a generally easy-to-please sort of soul, I can see where the bias lies. I'm not an especially avid TV watcher and interesting conversations for me generally include discussions of enlightenment, holistic thinking and whether or not ley lines exact within my immediate locale.
After polling a few other esoteric souls, here are some gifts then that we all agreed we would secretly and openly adore you for:
- Candles - One can never have enough candles, it seems. Tealights in particular, but really any candle is just a wonderful thing to get (and almost always guaranteed to be used!)
- Incense - Nag Champa, for the uninitiated, is easy to find and an incredibly popular fragrance among the pagany crowd. Any decent metaphysical store will stock it, as well as World Market/Pier One types of stores.
- Books - The trickiest part of bookgiving is knowing what books the giftee in question does or does not possess, as well as what particular interests or forte they study or specialize in. 'A Vision' by WB Yeats is a little known metaphysical work that most pagan sorts I know have never heard of, but would be thrilled to receive on many levels.
- Crystals - Stones and Crystals are in and of themselves wonderous things, but made even more intrinsically precious to those that strive to utilize the natural energies of the earth. Local metaphysical shops will carry them in quantity as well as Rock and Mineral stores (if you are lucky enough to have one in the area). As no two stones or crystals are the same, it's one are where it's impossible to give something the recipient already has.
