Kilts are hot.
Ask any woman who's ever heard of them, and the chances are good that she'll concur this point to some emphasis, at least if she's of even a minute Celtic persuasion. We like kilts. We love them even. Kilts conjure up images of warriors, of highlanders. It takes a real man to wear a kilt.
So why are kilts in such utter disfavor with the manly persuasion, I ask you?
Dress like garments, after all. are far more the norm in history than the exception. I suspect this was for their ease and convenience as much as anything and personally, like capes, I find it something that should never have passed from the consciousness of fashion. Long, druidy robes with hoods add a certain mystique that, sorry, hoodies and sweats simply cannot equal. Ditto dockers and anything Ralph Lauren. Kilts though bespeak a mystique all their own.
You want comfort? Convenience? A place to hide your sword?
All I'm sayin'.
In wondering initially whether I was alone in my adoration of the humble manskirt, I did what any warm-blooded shetype could be expected to do at 4 AM when all of her sisters were sleeping - I googled it. And Lo, are there ever a plethora of other feminine admirers and yearners for the kilt to return. WItness:
Celtic Kate's fabulous Men In Kilts website devoted entirely to the men who wear them and look fabulous in doing so;
Real Men Wear Kilts, in case you thought me somehow unique in my unabashed kilt covetousness;
Heck, even Flicker has an entire section devoted to Men in Kilts.
Kilts. Not just for the Scottish and RPG sort anymore.
Please?
